I visited the botanic gardens to do this painting – walking through the glasshouses the geraniums were their usual vibrant red and pink.  There was nowhere to sit inside to draw so I ended up outside in the morning sun.  It was pretty cold but I had my flask of tea, so I was happy enough!   Happy Valentine’s Day……

This is my latest painting.  I drew this at the time of the Solstice, but with one thing and another I only got around to painting it recently.  I didn’t expect to paint such a vibrant background, but I suppose it ties in nicely with the idea behind the solstice –  a new solar year. Anyway, it’s lovely to have some colour in january!

“The Winter Solstice takes place on or around December 21^st.  It marks the longest and darkest night of the year.   This is a celebration of light and the rebirth of the Sun.  Ancient rituals involved lighting huge bonfires to encourage the Sun to return to warm the cold earth once more.”

Latest drawing…..to be painted soon, looking forward to it!  I will be doing some drawings like this one above that are more flower/nature/botanical based,  aswell as my usual drawings with the strange creatures, my favourites.  As soon as I paint it, it will be available in my shop.  I will be adding my originals very soon to my online shop also.  Happy Christmas!
