About/Contact

I am a Dublin-based artist.  I work in pen and ink – simply drawing from my imagination.  My work is inspired by a mixture of everyday things that I love -mythology, folklore, fairytales, storytelling, nature, gardening.  I studied fine art print at the National College of Art & Design from 2001 – 2005.  But I never had the patience for the printmaking process.  I think that’s why I love working in pen and ink so much – the whole process is so fluid.

From 1995-1999 I studied Natural Sciences (Zoology) at Trinity College Dublin.  My exploration of the natural world during this time was from the point of view of research and analysis.  But as Walt Whitman wrote,  “you must not know too much, or be too precise or scientific about birds and trees and flowers…. a certain free margin, and even vagueness – perhaps ignorance, credulity – helps your enjoyment of these things… ”.  And so my work is full of flowers, leaves, trees, spirals and strange creatures – a natural otherworld –  not always making sense but always to be enjoyed.
